Thanksgiving and a Good Children’s Book
I cannot believe Thanksgiving is in just a few more hours! I don’t know about you but Thanksgiving came upon us quickly. But, I am looking forward to tomorrow! Since it is Thanksgiving tomorrow, I picked a Thanksgiving picture book to review!
The horse is ready, the air is bracing, and everyone is bundled into the sleigh. So let the wind blow and the snow start to fall! This family is off to Grandfather’s house for a delicious feast. Matt Tavares, with his keen eye for detail, fresh and surprising perspectives, and all the warmth and coziness of a big holiday dinner, illuminates the original text of Lydia Maria Child’s verse about Thanksgiving Day, which has marked the start of the holiday season for generations of children.
This book is a great children’s book. It is actually the song, Over the Hills and Through the Wood, but put in book format with beautifully illustrated pictures on every page. When I pick it up I thought it was a children’s Christmas book but is actually about Thanksgiving. Perfect timing, right?
So, whether you are going over the hills and through the wood this Thanksgiving, or just siting tight where you are, this is a nice children’s book.

Wow, it’s November! Plus a review of Hometown Girl
Happy November, my fellow readers. I woke up this morning and could not believe it was November already. And at work I kept writing the wrong date. October flew by. Yesterday, October 31, we had snow flurries in the air, but what can I say, I live in Michigan and you can except snow anytime. So, as the days get colder and darker, it is the time of the year for hot chocolate and reading curled up under a blanket. One more thing before I get to my review. Has anyone of you been hearing things about Thanksgiving and Christmas? Well, I have. It has been mentioned more that once at my house. My sisters and I are getting super excited about having everyone home for the holidays and shopping for Christmas presents.
Beth Whitaker isn’t supposed to be a small-town girl. She’s always dreamed of leaving Willow Grove, Illinois, for the big city, but she feels trapped, struggling to make up for a mistake that’s haunted her for years. Just when Beth is finally ready to break free, her sister impulsively buys a beloved but run-down farm on the outskirts of town, and she begs Beth to help with the restoration. Reluctantly, Beth agrees to help—and puts her own dreams on hold once again. From the very moment I started this book, I knew I was going to like this book and I did. The cover was what originally caught my attention. Don’t you think it is a cute cover? Courtney Walsh is a good author, even though this is my second book that I have read by her. I am probably going to go and pick up all of Walsh’s books and binge read.
Well, let’s talk about this book. It was an intriguing plot with a mystery, that kept me reading to till the end of the book. Each main/side character was interesting and well developed. Beth and Drew were great main characters. Both had their own and different stories.
I recommend this book. It was a good read, that I enjoyed very much.
