Wrath of the Storm

Trouble has a way of seeking out Nicolas Calva, and it’s not likely to leave him alone any time soon. With Caesar’s magic bulla, the Malice of Mars, and the possibility of a Jupiter Stone in play, all the powers of Rome are circling Nic. He’ll have to maneuver his way through scheming government officials and reawakened magical beasts to save the Empire. Can he manage to keep his friends and family safe, claim his own freedom once and for all, and rescue the Empire — before the magic gets the better of him? With twists and turns on every page, critically acclaimed author Jennifer Nielsen weaves an epic, action-packed conclusion to her extraordinary Mark of the Thief trilogy.

Wrath of the Storm met every expectation I had for it and Jennifer Nielsen did not let her readers down. This book began right where Rise of the Wolf ended. Just to let you know, that was a cliff hanger that left me sitting at the edge of my seat. I have been waiting to know what happens for an entire year and it was worth the wait.

Nielsen creates characters like no other. Characters that you fall in love with the first page they are on, characters that you hate the first page they are on, and characters that you despise in the beginning then learn to like. The character I disliked at first was General Radulf, but then that changed when I read the last chapter of Rise of the Wolf and then this book. When reading Nielsen’s books, it is like you are there in the story with the characters.

This book had many unexpected twists and turns. Some of them left me quite worried, which in turn, made me turn the pages faster. There is absolutely nothing in this entire book that I disliked or can complain about. Actually, there is… This book ended the series. Why did this series have to end? It is so good!

This book/series is an excellent read for old and young. If you think you don’t have time to read this series, you can listen to it. The narrator, MacLeod Andrews does an excellent job.

If you haven’t guessed I would recommend this book and the whole Mark of the Thief Trilogy. If you are a fan of the series, Heroes of Olympus, by Rick Riordan this most definitely is the series for you.

This review is written in my own words and is my honest opinion.

Reading Resolution 54: Read a book that ends a series.
